Mid-Semester Feedback Clinic

Do you want to learn more about what your students are learning in your courses prior to that end-of-semester survey that less than half of them complete? Do you already collect mid- or post-semester survey data but you’re not sure how to use it? Or are you a mid-semester feedback all-star who’s interested in honing your practice collecting, analyzing, and using that data to make actionable changes to your teaching practice, as well as contextualizing it for your teaching dossier?

Clinic Description

Join CTAL for a two-hour, intensive mid-semester feedback clinic on October 8 from 3-5pm conducted via Zoom. During this session we will delve into reasons why collecting mid-semester feedback is important to pedagogical practice and improvement, how to collect data in meaningful ways for you, and what you can do with those data once they’re analyzed. Participants will practice using CTAL’s mid-semester survey data analysis tool, using anonymized data from multiple semesters of the same course taught in Fall 2024/Spring 2025. This will be followed by a discussion of what the instructor could do with these data to support their future teaching practice, as well as how they could document this data in their dossier.

Learning Goals

By the end of this session, participants will be able to

  • Articulate the usefulness of mid-semester feedback to their pedagogical practice
  • Make decisions about what data they would like to collect and how
  • Use the introduced framework and tool for analyzing qualitative data

October 8, 2025 – 3:00-5:00PM via Zoom
