Self-guided modules for revising or creating program educational goals
These modules provide materials to help UD faculty who are revising or developing program educational goals. They are intended to be used by groups of faculty in a specific degree-granting program who do not need scheduled, ongoing support from CTAL.
Each module has a series of explicit goals, steps and recommended actions, and resources. Each module also has one or more “worksheets,” Google documents that are templates to guide your work. When you click on the link for each of these worksheets, you will be prompted to make a copy in your own Google Drive location.
Guided support series are also available for teams who would like formal, ongoing support in the fall, winter, or spring semester.
Preparing to begin these modules
Before beginning these modules, we strongly encourage you to:
- Identify a small team of faculty colleagues to collaborate on this work. It is unlikely that one person will have all of the knowledge to successfully draft the education goals of a program. More importantly, these goals should represent a consensus among all of the program faculty as these goals will be printed in the academic catalog and represent an explicit, public set of statements describing the learning that occurs in your program.
- Determine when and how this group will collaborate on this work. In module 1, we recommend that you draft a timeline of the tasks involved in this work. It may be helpful to review the tasks listed in that document now, before diving into this work, so that you and your colleagues can decide how you will work together. For example, will you meet in person or online? How often will you meet?
- Create or identify a shared space online for this collaboration – a Google Drive folder will work well – where you will store the documents in which you and your colleagues will collaborate. This will give you a location to store each of the worksheets and other documents that you create (e.g., meeting agendas, additional resources) – remember that our website will ask you to make a copy of each worksheet any time you click on a link so be sure that you’re not accidentally making multiple, conflicting copies as you work through the modules! Additionally, ensure that everyone in the team has access to this shared space and knows how to use it.
Questions and feedback
We welcome your questions and suggestions on how to improve these modules. And, of course, we would be happy to provide feedback on your draft program educational goals! Please share your questions, suggestions, and draft goals with CTALemail@example.com.
