February 21- Footnote  by Cedar et al.

12:30-1:30, Faculty Commons (Pearson 116)
This Oscar-nominated movie describes the relationship between a pair of Israeli academics, a father and his son, and how their relationship changes as the son’s academic career overshadows his father’s career. The movie is available for streaming through the UD Library website (click on the “View now” link on the movie’s DELCAT page); a public on-campus screening will be scheduled if enough registrants indicate interest. The discussion will be facilitated by Nicholas Harris who teaches courses at UD in Jewish Studies and Islamic History and has taught or facilitated courses in Near Eastern Studies, Israeli Media and Film, and Hebrew language.

April 16 – Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well by Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen

12:30-1:30, Faculty Commons (Pearson 116)
Thanks for the feedback combines research with practical advice for how we can accept and use feedback from others to improve our work and ourselves.  This can help faculty as they provide feedback to students and one another as well as helping faculty effectively process the (solicited and unsolicited!) feedback they regularly receive e.g., course evaluations, annual appraisal, article and grant reviews.  Dr. Laura Lessard in Behavioral Health & Nutrition will facilitate this discussion and share with participants how she has used this book in her own professional life and in the classroom.
