This week and next, CTAL is welcoming new graduate teaching assistants at New Graduate Student Orientation and new faculty, at New Faculty Orientation (in collaboration with the Office of the Provost). In addition, CTAL staff will be traveling to Wilmington, Dover, and Georgetown campuses to welcome our colleagues there, as well as the Associate in Arts faculty members. Throughout these events, CTAL will be conducting workshops on inclusive teaching, syllabus design, and what you need to know to get started on the right foot from the first day of the semester.
The First Friday Roundtable on Teaching is a collaborative University of Delaware program aimed at highlighting varied approaches of teaching, learning and assessment practices. The series hosts monthly discussions for faculty and graduate students. During Fall and Spring semesters, events are offered from 3:30-5pm on the first Friday of the month. The series is co-sponsored by Academic Technology Services (IT-ATS) and the Institute for Transforming Undergraduate Education (ITUE).

This First Friday Roundtable workshop will focus on engaging communities outside the classroom to foster student learning. Professor Lynette Overby and Service Learning Director, Sue Serra, will lead participants through the thought and technical process of adding this component to courses.
